Dennis was born and raised in San Diego, spending most of his developmental years in San Diego’s eclectic North Park area. He got his start in accounting at an early age, filing returns for his family and friends at age 16. Dennis’s accounting bug followed him to college, where he began to take on roommates’ tax returns to make extra money during school. He graduated from University of California - Santa Barbara with a degree in business/economics. His emphasis was in accounting.

After college, Dennis went to work for one of San Diego’s largest CPA firms – Considine & Considine. Though family and friends were impressed by his early career success, his adventurous nature led him to leave the company and travel. Over the course of three years, Dennis visited more than 20 countries, even making the drive from San Diego to Costa Rica over a 5 month period. Every year, Dennis made a point to make it back home for tax season. During his travel years, he did some consulting work for Westcore Industrial Properties and started the financial analysis division of BRE Commercial. After his time abroad, Dennis felt like he had a strong enough clientele and the drive that he needed to take on his tax accounting full-time. In 2004, he found an office suite and began San Diego Taxman.

San Diego Taxman is a unique tax accounting firm, in its approach to client care. The company has clients ranging from NFL coaches, athletes, and cage fighters, to local bartenders, hair stylists, students and nurses. Dennis prides himself in his ability to put a personal touch on his exceptional tax preparation services. It’s not uncommon for him to personally e-mail clients regarding tax law revisions and financial advice. He is always looking to help his clients make the tax filing process as painless and rewarding as possible. Case and point: He periodically goes through client files to make updates to his contacts and pinpoint how individual clients may benefit from new tax information and options, and then makes sure they get that information.

Dennis likes the energy and enthusiasm he brings to the tax world, getting rid of the “daunting taxman” image many people have of professionals in the industry. Dennis’s ability to speak in simple layman’s terms is a unique skill that he shares with his clients and that has made him a sought-after media expert. For Dennis, the biggest perk of his job is having satisfied clients who leave his office with less weight on their shoulders than when they walked in. He looks forward to the relief his work gives his clients.

A true San Diegan, Dennis likes to spend his spare time surfing off of Sunset Cliffs in Point Loma. He also trains in mixed martial arts. Dennis is an ultimate fighting fan who makes special trips across the country to places like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami and Chicago to support clients and friends in their events. Even with his fast-paced social life, Dennis still finds time to volunteer with reputable local charities like Volunteer San Diego and Homework Helpers.
